Scoutmaster

The Scoutmaster is the adult leader responsible for the image and program of the troop.  The Scoutmaster and assistant Scoutmasters works directly with the Scouts.

  • Prepare a family newsletter of Troop events and activities.

Committee Chair

Susan Kimball

  • Organize the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated and completed.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the Chartered Organization Rep and Scoutmaster.
  • Prepare, call and preside over a monthly Troop Committee/Parent meeting.
  • Ensure Troop representation at monthly Roundtable meetings.
  • Secure trained individuals for camp leadership.

Secretary

Diana Henderson

  • Keeps minutes of meetings and sends out committee meeting notices.
  • Handles publicity.
  • At each meeting, report the minutes of the previous meeting.

Treasurer

Wendy Cadima

  • Train the Troop Scribe in record keeping.
  • Handle all Troop funds and pay bills.
  • Maintain checking and savings accounts.
  • Supervise fund raising projects.
  • Supervise camp savings plans.
  • Preparation of the annual Troop budget.
  • Lead Friends of Scouting campaign.
  • Report to the Troop Committee at each meeting.

Assistant Scoutmaster

Marty Barret, Cheryl Becker, Dirk Buettner, Karl Hamilton, Keith Hurt, Greg Robb, Steve Salyards, Alex Stein

Assistant Scoutmasters work directly with the Scouts and Assist the Scoutmaster

  • Assist with Scoutmaster Conferences
  • Guide the Junior Leadership
  • Attend outings as a trained leader

Activities Coordinator

Vicky Silcock

  • Help in securing permission to use camping sites
  • Serve as transportation coordinator.
  • Ensure a monthly outdoor program.
  • Promote the National Camping Award.
  • Promote a goal of at least one outing a month.
  • Secure tour permits for all Troop activities
  • Report to the Troop committee at each meeting.

Advancement Coordinator

Clark Mason

  • Encourages Scouts to advance in Rank
  • Work with the Troop Scribe to maintain all Scout Advancement records.
  • Help arrange Troop quarterly Boards of Review.
  • Develop and maintain a merit badge counselor list.
  • Report to the council when a successful Board of Review is held, and secure Merit Badges and Certificates.
  • Conduct Troop resource survey.
  • Arrange for charter review and recharter annually.
  • Report to the Troop committee at each meeting.

Chaplain

Vacant

  • Provides a spiritual tone for Troop meetings and activities.
  • Gives guidance to the Chaplain aide.
  • Promote regular participation of each member in the activities of the religious organization of is choice.
  • Visit homes of Scouts in time of sickness or need.
  • Give spiritual counseling service when needed of requested.
  • Encourage Boy Scouts to earn their appropriate religious emblems.
  • Report to the Troop committee at each meeting.

Training Coordinator

Lisa Scott

  • Ensure Troop Leaders and Committee members are properly trained.
  • Schedule Fast Start training for all new leaders.
  • Responsible for Youth Protection training.
  • Encourage Junior Leader training within the Troop.
  • Report to the Troop committee at each meeting.

Equipment Coordinator

Dirk Buettner

  • Train the Troop Quartermaster on inventory and proper storage and maintenance of all Troop equipment.
  • Train the Troop Librarian to build/maintain a Troop library of Merit Badge pamphlets.
  • Supervise and help Troop procure camping equipment.
  • Perform periodic safety checks on all Troop camping gear, and train boys in the safe use of all outdoor equipment.
  • Report to the Troop committee at each meeting.

Eagle Consultant

  • Will guide the boys through the Eagle process as soon as they obtain the Life Scout rank.
  • Will help in obtaining an Eagle Advisor for the Scout.
  • Will help with securing the proper paperwork, and making sure it is filled out properly.

Former Honorary Chairman

Gordon Rowley

Gordon was Scoutmaster for Troop 483 for over 17 years!  He was very involved in our Troop and part of the Glendora Trails Committee. He also helped set up Eagle Projects for the boys in our Troop to do.  May 7th will be now known to our Troop as Gordon Rowley day!
